Christmas gift

"I gave this camera to my wife as a Christmas gift this year. What a camera! she has only taken a few pictures, but those pictures a beautiful. Indoor pics with minimal lighting came out bright and clear. Skin tones were spot on. Outdoor pics are even better. I don't know what you would need with 1000 mm zoom, but it's good to know you have it just in case. I don't know much about cameras but this was a good buy and I made my wife happy. About the only thing bad I can say about it it the camera bag is garbage. It's way too small and at a 1000mm the image becomes blurry. Other than that it's almost like a DSLR."

Excellent easy to use camera
Pros: easy to use very nice pictures

"My wife loves taking pictures, but doesn't like to get too technical. This camera is perfect, it has a nice solid feel to it, the screen is big and very nice and the pictures using default settings are impressive and developed beautifully.
The only negative is the case that obviously wasn't meant for this camera (which doesn't fit at all)"

Poor package, Poor choice

"Nice camera, but the following flaws make it a bad choice - the case that comes in the package can barely hold the camera, let alone any of the accessories.
The camera itself ... bad design - the view finder sticks out like a sore thumb. In addition, although the pictures are very sharp at close range, once you go out on the zoom lense, getting a good picture is literally impossible - they are all hazy.
Best to avoid this camera and save yourself a lot of frustration."

"Nikon lives up to its name. I used it during SF Giants Word Championship parade. The zoom and the picture quality are excellent. I also used video option which is very easy to use. Shutter is fast. Camera is light to carry. Battery life has no problem like other reviews said. Lense cover has a string which can be attached to the main strap. This is the best point-and-shoot camera I have had."

"The camera is great, I got it to replace my Kodak digital camera I bought at Costco 6 years ago. The only negative is the case is too small, difficult to put camera in it and no accessories will fit with the camera in the case."

Nikon coolpix 510 bundle
Pros: easy to use, great zoom, rotating display
"We purchased this camera for my technology -challenged mom. She has never used anything with more than 5 buttons and she took to this camera instantly. The lay out of this camera is great and very uncomplicated. The optical zoom is also incredible! Another great feature is the rotating display. This helps my Mom capture pictures at odd angles without the need to bend in every direction or climbing a step stool. This camera also comes loaded with so many other great options like GPS and smile recognition shutter!"

Good camera

"Good camera but it's not a replacement to DSLR. Pictures are crsip, but some images can be blurry if the objects move ( i have tried various settings). Took a picture of moon, came out nicely in auto mode.
Video comes out to be okay but looses focus when zoom is used.
The case is a joke and you need to buy an after market one.
Wish there is a separate battery charger, charging with the camera is not a good idea.
Overall, a good buy otherwise."

"This camera is great! I researched SLR's and this camera - it seems like the thousands of dollars you would spend on lenses for an SLR, you have already in this one camera. It takes beautiful photos and has a lot of great features like Panorama, GPS and several pre loaded settings. I'm very happy with my purchase! It has already paid for itself :)"

This Camera Bundle Needs Tweaking

"I am still trying to figure out the carrying case. I don't believe I will ever use it.
The LCD is not shielded and is subject to damage and fingerprints from routine handling,
There are no threads on the camera barrel, making the use of a filter impossible.
The battery can only be recharged within the camera itself and has a relatively short life. This necessitates purchase of an external recharger and extra battery"

Nikon Coolpix P510 - Excellent Purchase

"I purchased this camera last week in preparation for an upcoming trip. The camera works flawless. Does everything in the automatic mode beautifully. The 42X optical zoom is unbelievable. Unbelieveable pics from a point and shoot camera with this type of lense.
In several reviews I read, some people had an issue in the camera focussing automatically at distant subjects. I find that once you pick your subject at long range, all you have to do is press the shutter button down part way. The camera focusses and locks in!
I have used the manual landscape option to see how the manual feature works verses the automatic feature. I find both work well. I plan on using the automatic setting for most daytime pics.
I highly recommend this camera, and the package price from COSTCO is more than $30.00 less than other website sights or vendors for the same camera."

"So far I really like the camera, it really is what I was looking for. Not too complicated and easy instructions! The only bad part about it, is the camera case. Way too small!!
The camera barely fits into it. If I am traveling somewhere I want to be able to take the charger with me, this is not possible with this bag!! It would be nice to see Nikon take care of this!"

"Bought this camera last week to shoot high school football games. The daytime pictures are fabulous and so is the video. I'm challenged trying to find a mid priced point and shoot camera to shoot action under the lights. I had a hard time targeting my subject with continuous shooting as the LCD goes dark while images are written to the SD card. Bought a class 10 16meg card with no improvements so I returned it for the Fuji HS30."

Easy - Point & Shoot!
Pros: takes some pretty great videos also., i was able to attach straps to the bag myself!

"Not too shabby. We all know that as some of us get older, our hands begin to shake. Those little cameras are too light even with the shake feature, pictures wind up somewhat fuzzy.
NOT WITH THIS CAMERA! Even with my hands shaking, this camera is a bit heavier + with a lot more quality in your hands = better pictures. I would heartily recommend it to anyone whether 'avid photographer' or "I need my vacation photos' person. Just point & shoot...the camera does all the rest. Too much light? Not enough light? This camera has the brains to figure it out for you & give you exactly the right shot every time. Lush colors. Great for framing your photo...the camera helps you with that also! I'm going away on my very first cruise & will absolutely want to write a new review once I see how it weathers under constant use. Since I bought this camera from Costco.com I will be printing from my Costco store not only for convenience but because they are capable of printing the most beautiful albums to go with the very best of photos. BUY this camera...you won't be sorry! Best investment I ever made. --- By the way...don't pay attention to the nay sayers who've complained because the case doesn't come with a strap. If your imaginative you can put your own strap on it just like I did. Works like a charm...now all I do is sling it over my shoulder & go wherever with it. Oh! And pay attention because you'll get some great video with it too! Don't just take my word for it...BUY IT...It's a truly great camera!"
