Out of Focus & Battery Door Kept Popping Open
Pros: size & zoom
Cons: too easy to have a blurred pic/faulty battery door
Model Number: Nikon S9300
"I was shocked at the poor picture quality of some of my shots. Yes, some were very good, but my older Canon just killed this model. Excellent zoom but too easy to make blurred pics. What was up with this battery door popping open? I never had that happen with any of my 30+ cameras in my life. This baby is a return item!"

Buyer Beware
Pros: seems to have it all., when it works it works well
"I bought a. Nixon Coolpix S8100 two Christmases ago. I have used it sparingly and have NEVER dropped or abused it. All of a sudden it stopped working and says Lens Error. Nikon customer service is run from their website. They want $149 to fix it. But read the reviews. This camera series has a design defect. Lens errors are a prevelant problem. If it happens during the warranty period, they will tell you that you abused the camera and refuse warranty service. The reviews for this error are all over the web. It seems that when they repair the problem, it comes right back soon after the camera is returned. Beware of this camera and Nikon. Both have a bad reputation."

Not a sharp camera
Pros: gps, zoom, video
Cons: out of focus photos, auto focus area not accurate
"Bought this camera for a Hawaii trip. I own a Nikon Coolpix S200 and it's a wonderful little camera, but I wanted the GPS feature of the 9300.
So, off to Hawaii I went with my new S9300 in hand. During my trip I took about 300 photos. About half of my photos were not in focus. Distance landscape photos of the hill side at Capt. Cooks Monument were out of focus. I took the photos from a boat in calm waters. Distance photo of the Capt. Cook Monument also not in focus. The camera indicated the shot was in photo was in focus, but when I had them printed, they were not. Also, the camera seems to not know where to focus. I had to turn off the auto focus area and tell the camera where to focus. Even then the shot was not sharp.
In contrast, I spent a day in the ocean snorkeling and had my Olympus TG-820 underwater camera. Made a stop at the Painted Church. Took about 20 photos there and all were sharp. No issues.
Needless to say, as Costco has THE BEST RETURN POLICY. I promptly returned the S9300. I might just go buy the new Olympus TG-1iHS."

Worst Nikon Ever Purchased
Pros: looks nice, nice return policy at costco which you will need!
Cons: will not focus, will not properly expose, special battery and charger required
Model Number: S9300
"I have been shooting Nikon for over 30 years. I have many Nikon SLRs and rangefinders. This is a HORRIBLE camera. It has ruined my last family outing! I am returning it to Costco for a refund. It not capable of taking a crisply focused photo or one that is properly exposed. I have tried and tried but to no avail. It's very expensive for such poor quality. I have older Nikon rangefinders that cost half as much that do a far better job. The camera looks cool, but it's truly awful. I love Nikon-but NOT this camera. Do NOT buy it."

Awful camera
Pros: 18x zoom and free sd card
Cons: this camera
Model Number: Nikon Coolpix S9300 Digtial Camera
"Purchased this camera for my European vacation and now wish I bought something else. Here are the reasons: - Poor picture quality. More often then not it doesn't focus properly on the object - Battery life is awful. It died on me almost every day. Most of the time within 3 hours of use after the battery being charged ? - The design is awful. When you try to make a picture, you would hit the "mode dial" and move it into the position you don't need. Bad pictures come out, but you don't realize that till you see it on the computer. - In addition, the case provided does not fit the camera well.
I did expect much more from Nikon, but most likely will not buy another Nikon again. I'll be returning this camera."

Failed during our First Cruise
Pros: size and simple to use with a very effective zoom.
Cons: dud
Model Number: S9300 Coolpix
"I purchased this camera for our very first cruise. It worked great until the fourth day. I got an error message that would not clear even when I removed and reinstalled the battery. Once home I called the Tech. Desk at Nikon. They had never seen the error message before. I returned the camera to the store for a full refund. This was my first and last Nikon."

Very Disappointed
"I had so many problems with this camera, it was unreal. I had a friend with a coolpix that took great pics, and decided to get one, but this model was nothing but a headache. It takes too long to snap a photo, the pop-up flash is positioned where most people place their finger, it is very difficult to see the display in the sunlight, the dial on the top turns so easily that I would end up with pics in "special effects" mode when I had it in auto mode, the pictures blurr easily as the camera is sensitive to any movement, the battery cannot hold charge very long, the flash does not fill in how it is supposed to, the battery flap opens easily, the zoom is especially prone to vibration, and slow response time after turning camera on. Our mistake was bringing this camera to Paris without trying it out first. We missed a lot of pics because of the flaws. I have owned several Canon powershots (SD780 IS type) and never had these problems. I decided to try a compact Nikon because I really like my Nikon D90 camera. Returning this camera!"

Don't buy!

"Camera is really a hit or miss proposition. Some pictures have amazing clarity and sharpness. However, some pictures the object in the picture is blurry or unfocused. I am returning this product because of the poor picture quality."

preferred the cannon sx260
Pros: good macro pictures, 18xzoom
Cons: semi auto flash, deleting pictures, sluggish, black when shooting multi burst, stored multi burst pictures
Model Number: Nikon s9300
"I purchased both the cannon 260 and the nikons9300. The Nikon takes fabulous closeups and discoveredmy best pictures were on the auto smart setting. I would have kept it except for multi burst, semi auto flash, focusing and deleting a picture. While using the multi burst the camera turns black so there is no way of knowing if your subject is still in the frame. The semi auto flash became annoying because you have to push the flash down. I didnt think it would bother me until a month later. When using the full zoom, the camera had a tough time focusing. I would have to zoom in and out until the camera focused by that time my subject has moved or left. Deleting a picture takes 4 steps and is a bit slow. I didn't care for the way the multiburst pictures were stored in the camera. The cannon sx260 did not have any of these glitches"

Great pics Simple to use
Model Number: S9300
"I love the camera. It takes great pictures and it's simple enough for anyone to learn to use it. Went nuts looking for the SD card though and almost threw it away... be careful it's taped to the inner box lid."

Suddenly...nothing
Pros: very compact, 8 gig sd card
Cons: pretty short life span!
Model Number: S9300
"Had camera for 3 weeks. Took camera out of its case to take picture of granddaughter being cute - camera would not turn on. Had only taken a couple dozen pictures, but thought battery might be discharged. Plugged it in to charge, but charging light wouldn't come on either. Absolutely no harsh treatment of the camera. Returning it ASAP."

Review 12 for Nikon Coolpix S9300 Digital Camera Bundle
1) Auto-focus takes awhile. When zoomed in completely, auto-focus usually skips over the position where it's focused and locks in where it's blurry. Sometimes it helps to push the shutter half-way a couple more times (each time it locks at a different point).
2) There is no manual focus override.
3) The USB connector is non-standard, requiring a special Nikon-compatible USB cable. (I do like the USB charging ability, though)"
