weak sub, mushy sound.

"tried this in both audio stereo, and the setup I use for home theater.
My audio system is very good, and this sub didn't do much. It was mushy and the low frequency wasn't low enough.
With the home theater setup , I watched expendables #1 , lots of explosions. So.. not enough BASS here, and didn't complement the existing sound.
Perhaps my room was too large, or placement of the sub was wrong, but I was expecting more loudness/amplitude in the low end and didn't get it.
So I returned it.

This is probably OK for existing systems that need a sub, in a smaller 10x12 room, and you aren't too critical.
I think I'll have to spend at least $300 on a decent sub anyhow."

Good Subwoofer; great price
Pros: well built, decent sound, velodyne quality build, double boxed & shipped, good packing - no damage, price point can't be beat
Cons: fidelity is medium... definitely not high

"A good subwoofer with a great price; Chrysalis by Velodyne is not as good as a Velodyne sub in terms of musicality, but gives plenty of thump. I find the line level inputs are low, requiring you to run the levels on the sub higher than I would like - but have not had any troubles with distortion. I've had velodyne products for over 20years with no problems; a solidly built quality piece of equipment - high end. THIS sub is not high end - but is a good sub none-the-less.
Arrived in a UPS bashed/scuffed box - but kudos to manufacturer who double-boxed and well-packed the subwoofer. It was in pristine condition. A++"

Terrific Subwoofer

"I had previously purchased the Pioneer 8" 100 Watt subwoofer from Costco. Decent performance, but, just didn't have the big "oomph" I wanted on the low bass spectrum. Saw the recently added Starfire 10--250 Watt unit for only $50. more. SPEND THE MONEY, folks! The Starfire is slightly larger but still compact and sound and "boom-boom" is MUCH better. Simple connections, good-looking. Delivery projection was 7-10 working days. Arrived the NEXT day! Can't ask for more..."
