Durable Quality and Functionality

Pros: ease of set-up, instant connection with our wireless home system, quiet operation, excellent processing speed, screen clarity and visual presentation, long battery life with low heat generation, ms office suite
Cons: would love to see it delivered with xp vs windows
Model Number: Dell 15R
"This is our second Dell 15R as the first was returned to Costco after failing in the first three days of use. The new unit is everything that we wanted and keeps on ticking after extensive daily usage by the two of us. We could not be more pleased with our experience with this laptop after the first 30 days of use."

Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop i5-3210M

Model Number: Dell Inspiron 15R laptop Intel Core i5-3210M
"This lap top has many features which I have yet to explore and become familiar with. Thus far, I am pleased with what the Dell has to offer and am anxious to use the webcam feature."

Good machine but a little bummed out

Pros: easy to set up loaded with great software.
Cons: keypad is a little off kilter
Model Number: Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz
"Purchased this for my daughters freshman year at college. Its easy to set up, nice graphics, and we loved that it came loaded with MS software and a free year of virus protection. Screen size is good. We don't know if its this particular laptop or all of them, having a hard time connecting to wireless modem. Some of the keys won't type the proper symbol/letter. We are returning it after just a week and a half. So glad Costco has an awesome return policy. We may repurchase the same machine just because we liked everything else. Not sure."

Keep your expectations low

Pros: the price was right., hdmi interface is nice., excellant display.
Cons: annoying dell software i didn't ask for., battery life ??
"I've only had this machine for a few weeks. So far it has been problem free. The machine performance is not quite what I expected. It runs no faster than my Dell XP desktop even with the 3rd generation chip and 8GB memory.. (I think Dell put a bunch of junk on the system that probably affects this.) There might be some tweaking that will improve this. Don't believe the battery life of 6 hours. I have yet to see it last more than 3 hr and 15 minutes after a full charge. Overall it's an OK laptop but a bit over hyped."

"Computer is a decent weight, not heavy, came loaded with lots of nice features, websites load fast, only complaint so far is the touch pad is a tad too touchy. Otherwise a great buy!"

Nice laptop, very fast. White line through screen

Pros: fast lite laptop
Cons: deffective lcd screen
Model Number: Inspiron 15R
"This is a very nice laptop. It is very fast, lite and seemed to work very well, but it came from the factory with defective LCD screen. There was a white line throught the middle of it. we spent hours with tech support and it could not be fixed so we returned it. This is the third computer I have had to return in the last two months because of factory hardware problems. (Two Dells and one HP) Both companies need to invest in better quality control. Things like this should not make it to the customer."

Don't waist your time and money

Model Number: Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz
"Cons: when you type, the cursor moves around unpredictably.
The battery life is too short: mine got dead a little less than 3 months.

nice design, but had problems right away

Pros: nice and functional
Cons: problems with freezing
Model Number: Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop Intel Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz
"I had good luck with COSTCO computers, specially Dell in past. Unfortunately this one started freezing too often right away. I did all software windows updates but was still freezing every 5-10 minutes for 5 seconds, sometimes minutes."

Big Mistake

Cons: loud fan
Model Number: 661851
"Background: I've had two previous dells, both inspirons. I loved my Inspiron 1318 (13"), except for the fact that it only lasted two years. Boo. I decided to try this 15".
Problems:
1) Big, heavy, and bulky (not good for lugging around)
2) LOUD FAN! I don't know if I had a faulty one or not, but everytime the fan switched on I could hardly think because it was so loud.
I considered getting another Dell, but saw warnings of loud fans for every version I considered. I returned the computer (love Costco's policy!) and decided to bid dell goodbye. Just bought a light, silent, 14" hp from Costco - LOVE."

easy to setup

Model Number: Dell Inspiration 15R Laptop
"no problems. Installed Windows and Office.
Checked for updates and ran a backup.
Documentation was skimpy. I imagine Setup would be difficult for anyone not familiar with
Windows.
Good price for including Office 2010."

BRAND NEW AND POOR QUALITY

"PURCHASED THIS FIRST DELL FROM COSTCO. AFTER RECEIVED THE NEW COMPUTER, WE JUST STARTED THE COMPUTER AND WAS DEFECTED FROM BEGINNING. AFTER CALLING DELL, THEY FOUND IT TO HAVE A BAD VIDEO CARD. CAN YOU BELIEVE FOR A BRAND NEW COMPUTER, ALREADY DEFECTED. NOT HAPPY AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DELL COMPUTER."

Dell Inspiron 15R

Cons: no numeric key pad
"I thought I had researched this product completely and found when I opened the package the keyboard did NOT have the numeric side Key pad like the picture showed. When I called the help line at costco the rep went to the online site with me and we both looked at the ad. when she looked at the "other views" it did show the laptop without the numeric pad but I assumed it was just another model and was going by the "AD"picture since it is the first thing you see and it clearly shows the numeric pad. The rep did go over the ad with me and it did not include the numeric pad in the ad description so I guess I didn't do as well with my research as I thought. Don't trust the PICTURES on the Ad. I can't use it with my epson 1650 scanner. It isn't compatible and that is a bummer. I have had the computer a couple of weeks now and I am getting used to the operating system. I used to have an XP and found that very easy. The windows 7 is just different but all in all I like the speed of this computer and am so far happy with it."
