Poor Quality Handle

Pros: all fine except for handle
Cons: handle will not remain locked
"I have replaced this bag 3 times due to the poor handle system design. I travel frequently and have NEVER checked this bag. Only use it gets is check on baggage. After about a month of use the handle on all three bags would not remain up (locked). Otherwise it is a great value bag but the handle is horrible ... I am returning for the last time for a refund to get something more durable"

Great Luggage but it is too big

Pros: durable, quality, versatile
Cons: too big
"I love this carry on luggage and have used it 4-5 times as checked and carryon luggage. It will hold enough for almost a weeks worth of clothes (for a guy) especially when expanded.
The only negative I have about this is that it is too big and you could potentially get hit with a checked bag fee. The dimensions of the bag itself are in lines with airlines regulations but when you add in the wheels and stands on the bottom of the bag it exceeds airline carryon specs.
That being said I have used it as a carryon on several airlines and have not had a problem using it as a carryon. However it will not fit wheels first in the overhead compartment you will HAVE to turn it on its side to get it to fit.
Great bag but like most reviewers it is just a couple of inches too big."

Tough as Nails...Limitations Few

Pros: 1. strong/tough but professional/classic look, 2. smooth (high quality) wheels/bearings, 3. roomy (overnighter or 5 days in japan), 4. fits nice in car trunk for auto travel
Cons: 1. a little bulky for smaller folks
"I travel domestically twice a month and internationally to Mexico and Japan at least three times a year. This is my second Kirkland Signature carry-on (I also have the last generation....still works just a little beat up after years of service). Despite what some of the reviews say, this bag is TOUGH. It is a larger carry-on. It will not fit in the overhead front-to-back. You have to lay it in sideways. While this may be an issue for some, it has never caused me (or Delta, United, US Air) any problem. For the smaller regional jets, you are checking all carry-ons plane-side anyway and for international flights, the overheads are larger. This is no lightweight. Fully loaded, there are probably a lot of folks out there that could not lift this bag into the overhead. Remember that detail BEFORE you pack. Good luck and safe travels!"

Too Big and Too Heavy

Pros: build quality, durable, great features
Cons: too heavy, too big
"I just registered so I could make a posting specifically regarding this particular Kirkland bag. Firstly, the build quality, structure, and functionality of this bag is simply great. I wanted to write this review to quickly highlight a few critical issues I hope will be addressed in the next model:
1) Weight: as it stands this carry-on bag weighs too much. At over 5.1 kgs, I had to pay sunwings airlines money to simply bring this bag onto the plane (their limit is 5.0 kg). With airline companies getting more tight with weights this is becoming more of an issue.
2) Size: on this same Sunwings flight my bag did not fit the dimensions for carry-on luggage. I have also had this with Porter airlines.
In summary, I love the bag itself but it needs to be lighter and a tad smaller before I can recommend the product to anyone else."

top handle breaks

"I have had three handles break. baggage handlers are not gentle with bags. And unfortunately the handles on kirkland bags are not made to handle the real world.
I don't recommend this carry on bag, if you plan on using it more than once.

NOT a true carry-on

Pros: price/quality are unbeatable
Cons: not a true carry-on bag.
"Both the height and depth (front to back) of the bag don't meet the 22" and 9" max requirements for most carry-ons. So if you are counting on NOT having to check your bag, I would not recommend this bag. If you are traveling with tight connection times, it can be very disconcerting to have to check your bag (and expensive).
Having said that, it is very durable and well designed, and is impossible to beat for the price. I had the previous design (which, I agree, was better) for 12 years before it wore out.
Dear Costco--would you please just take off a couple inches and make this a true carry-on?

Worst Costco Rollaboard Ever

Pros: 1. rugged, 2. smooth big wheels
Cons: 1. handle extends to low position not high enough, 2. strap attaches too low to the ground, 3. strap interferes with use of the outer pocket, 4. gussets on pocket make side use impossible
"I have purchased 4 generations of Kirkland carry-on rolling suitcases at Costco and loved using them for years, all have been great before this one but here's why this is the worst ever. 1. Attachment of briefcase strap is permanent, you must keep the outer compartment unzipped to use it and it is TOO LOW to the ground - not possible to cinch it up higher so your briefcase must drag on the ground. 2. Handle extends 2" lower than all previous Kirkland rolling carry-ons, this is ok if you are a short person but this is a major flaw if your height is over about 5'8". 3. Gussets on outer compartment pocket make it impossible to get flat materials in or out from the side, further complicated by the permanent attachment strap - cannot keep newspapers, letters/memos, or magazines in the outer pocket and expect to get at them, nor expect them not to become badly creased."

A real solid product

"This carry-on suitcase was a pleasant surprise when it arrived. I also contained a garment bag that was not pictured in the website photos. It is real solid and rolls nicely."

Was better

Pros: great warranty
Cons: strap on the inside
"The previous versions of this bag were better. The major drawback of this bag is the strap to attach another bag is located INSIDE the front flap. STUPID design."

Pros: great construction., no shoe storage compartment

"This is my second Costco bag. My first was misplaced by an airline. Basketball referee, travel frequently. Provides plenty of room for my gear for multiple games.
My only issue with this bag is there is no shoe storage compartment."

Love This Bag!

Pros: great build quality, flexible size - you can expand if checking bag
Cons: they do not make more sizes
"Read a few of the reviews and want to chime in on a couple of things. I travel 40+ weeks a year and use this bag almost every time. I have never had any problem getting the bag to fit in the overhead. It will always fit as long as you have not expanded it or packed too much in it (this is confirmed on all SWA 737's including the older 300 models - you will have to place it sideways in the older planes which is true for almost any 21"-22" bags). The build quality is superb on these bags, especially given the price and the Costco forever warranty. The wheels have always rolled very well and the handle has never given me a problem which is the eternal weak spot for this type of luggage. The Cordura is very durable, it is showing some signs of wear but no sign of failure. My son just graduated high school and I told all of our friends with kids heading off to school to give one of these to their kids as graduation presents, it will last well into their 30's!!"

Great Carry-On

Pros: good solid construction, great volume inside case, transparent toiletries bag for easy tsa check
Cons: none
Model Number: 664551
"This bag is very well designed with respect to maximizing space. It should be noted that it takes up every inch of both height and depth when loading it in the overhead bins on a 737. However, I have not had a problem to-date in getting it to fit in the bin and close the door (with the expansion zipper closed)."

Most durable ever

Pros: the ability to expand., the wheels, the easy to fold down pull handle.
"I love this bag. I don't usually check it, so the size is not a problem. I can fit several days worth of clothes, plus some toiletries. I love the expansion party. I go with it folded down and then I have room for a little shopping! I've had this bag for 10 or more years and have taken it on many trips. It's a winner."

Too Big

Model Number: 515223
"As a frequent traveler, my husband has often found the bag just a tad too large to fit in the overhead bins. When the flight attendants see it, they even say, "Oh, that's a Kirkland; it may not fit." And the way the tie down strap twists off and on instead of snapping with a plastic buckle like most other bags means it's more prone to coming off inadvertently. Otherwise, the bag is well-designed and durable. Just a few minor changes and you've got a winner!"

Great value for the money but.....

Pros: sturdy very good contruction well made
Cons: somebody over did the depth by 1 inch
"I tried fitting this bag in the metal sizer thing at the airport with my bag full with 3 days worth of clothes. Unfortunately the bag ballooned to 11 inches in depth. As I was lowering it from the top, it got stuck right where the front pocket started. It didn't even make it 1/4 of the way. The ladies at the ticket counter were smiling cus they smell $25 on a real flight with this bag. My Exterior measurements came out right around 23 inch height including wheels and handle (not too different than other 22" bags). But it's the depth on this bag. there is like an inch of depth on the front pocket that sticks out when the bag is full (even when that section isn't occupied). That blows up the depth of the bag to 11 inches from 10 inches. When you go over 10 inches it starts being a problem closing the cabin door bin. I can confirm that it does not fit lengthwise either wheels out or wheels in in the Southwest 737s."
