Very pixelated from web
Pros: good feature nice dvr easy setup.
Cons: very pixelated and bad quality video from web.

Great Product!!
Pros: price, easy setup, hdmi output, d1 recording, clear image quality, great remote access app, quality construction

"This system was easy to install with little time to configure. I was also able to install the remote viewing app on two computers (PC and Mac), my ipad and iphone without any problems.
I was also very impressed with the pan and tilt camera and how responsive it was to controlling and viewing it remotely over the internet.
The system overall has quality construction, D1 recording and HDMI output that is perfect for my set-up.
For the price, this system can't be beat."

Deceptive !!

"The video "ad" linked here is nothing like the video quality that these cameras produce. The "ad" looks like an HD camcorder and these cameras look more like cheap web cams; fuzzy, grainy and lousy color. DON'T buy them from the fake sample videos like I did!!"

"Where to begin? Manual errors, or faulty equipment, either one, not exactly a good start? The manual has some missing details as far as initial setup. HDMI port does not function until you connnect to a monitor and select a HD resolution. In the manual it says that HDMI is default video output, but it is NOT. Overall initial setup was fairly simple, remote access for smartphone access has a little more complex, but not a deal breaker. The biggest problem I had was faulty equipment. Two out of the four cameras failed 3 days out of the box, when PTZ camera was second to fail, I had had enough with Swann customer service and returned the whole thing."

Very bad Product for my use
Pros: good camera system, dome camera is very good and quality
Cons: very bad for remote access, they need more research in remote view software

"My personal opinion is this product is not good for my use. They offer remote viewing that is fake, very complicated steps, I called their techs. They spend almost one day In frond of my computer they took remote access to my computer at the end of the day they said sorry. the can't configure IP address with my system and said their higher level techs. will call me the next day 6pm but they didn't call me so far.
If any one want no remote viewing this
is a good system. good recording, good

I'm still waiting on return calls from Swann. Finally got through to a Costco supervisor who arranged it so I could return this below par video system to the store rather than wait 2 weeks on Swann to get my money back.... Swann .... what a joke."

Easy Set-up

"I opened the box read a little on set up and connected the cameras. I all just worked with no problems. There were no complicated settings. I also downloaded the computer client software and iphone app from the company and it was easy to configure as well. I had to contact SWANN for a Mac software driver and they provided the link very fast."

Very Pleased
"This is a great system that was very easy to install because the wired connections are simply plug-ins. Though I had someone else do the installation for me, it was fast as far as the connections go. We just had to feed the wires from outside, through the attic and into the wall of the house to connect to the monitor. Overall I am very pleased. The system works great."

Better video than current system
Pros: good video quality, easy to setup remote viewing.
Cons: very diffult to operate, extreamly difficult to setup motion recording, hard to review incidents

"The DVR records better video than my current Q-See DVR but the Swann system does not provide easy to use software for setting up the system from my local computer.
It does not provide Composit video out to my local TVs.
There are no indicators to know when a camera is recording or not so it is difficult to set Moton Alarm triggering levels. It is mostly trial and error.
Not able to playback recordings on my Android Phone. Can only monitor real time. Unable to playback more than one camera at a time. Hard to scan video for recorded incidents.
All in all not a User Friendly system but if you can get it running the video is better."

not ready for consumer market

"I think Swan needed a couple more months to fully bake this. You will need to spend a lot of time with tech support to get this working as the manuals are not complete.
When I unpacked the boxes I noticed the PTZ camera had loose metal flakes inside it (at the mounting point) from Swann's manufacturing process. I was able to spot these and remove them before they landed on the PCB. This would have caused a short circuit.
The remote interface did work very well. However Swann support agreed the manuals do not have enough information and they need to set this up for the majority of their customers. I could also view remotely with my phone quite nicely.
The interface at DVR BNC connectors OR the extension cables has a problem. Swann sent me three replacements because the DVR kept displaying "loss of video" but the problem could not be corrected. It doesn't surprise me; this is a low cost system. The connections are critical to a quality video picture; especially when using motion detection.
I gave it a couple weeks and am returning everything to Costco. Regret my bad experience but, I would not recommend this as a result. I posted a youtube video of the connection problem. Look up 'swann dvr bad connector'.

Just spend time with TECH SUPPORT and its GOOD!
Pros: a great starter system with lots of features.
Cons: takes a bit of work to get what you want.

"You must spend time with TECHNICAL SUPPORT, to get all the features working. They are OFF SHORE support but they are generally smart and helpful. and for us were VERY PATIENT.. So don't just plug it in and STOP USING IT because it doesn't work"

best d1 dvr system, solid all around
Pros: d1, 30 frames per second, pc remote access, android remote access, email notifications, motion detection, hdmi output, pt camera 700tvl included

"this dvr has all the latest features i have researched about home dvr systems in this price range, and btw this is a well priced system also considering the camera resolution and pt camera included and 3yr warranty. you wont find something similar or near this quality at this price, trust me ive looked everywhere.
the one feature that stands out above all is that it has the best recording quality. for those of you who dont know, d1 is the best recording format on home/business dvr systems. it gives you dvd quality video, which is best quality available for security systems at a price below $1500. other dvrs have d1 recording but what makes this one different is that it records 30 frames per second on all cameras. this gives you best quality in real time. my previous dvr had d1 but it recorded 7 frames per second on each camera so if someone, lets say a thief, passed by the camera too fast i would be lucky to get a good shot of him on the camera. this d1 dvr records in d1 quality and all channels in real time. i though i would test this out to see the difference and i did by running passed 3 of the cameras. I can see the entire moving motion of myself running passed cameras on the recording as if the video was live, huge difference on the detail and much more effective when catching a criminal or evidence.
i tested other features like motion detection, email, android viewing, and pc remote access and they all work really well as well. this dvr is solid and the d1 makes this best of all dvr on market.

-get hdmi cable (not included) if you are not using a computer monitor. no need to get expensive one just basic hdmi will work, costco sells them at low price"
