Great Desktop! Would Have Been 5 Stars Except...

Pros: looks speed overall capabilities, very good customer service from dell, low power consumption
Model Number: Item 666476
"Only had the computer for a couple of weeks but am very pleased so far with its performance. Arrived within shipping window, easy to set up, very fast boot up and program execution. Only problem was my shipment was missing the Activation Key Card for MS Office, hence 4 stars instead of 5. Called Dell service and they were very responsive and I received the replacement card they shipped in 2 business days."

Excellent Product

Pros: could not have been simpler or easier to set-up, instant connection to our existing wireless system, did not need another set of speakers or screen, lightening fast processing, very quiet with low heat output from the processor, windows 7 includes tutorials "getting started", dell has typically delivered a quality product, love ms office including outlook
Cons: would have loved to have had xp(!!!!!), windows 7 takes some getting used to, transferring ms office files to the new computer
Model Number: XPS 8500
"This purchase was in conjunction with a Dell laptop 15R that gave us the functionality of a home based system with the portability of the laptop."

Dell XPS 8500 replaced a Dell Dimension

Pros: really fast, really quiet, comes with 1 year of kasersky internet security, love the costco concierge service
Cons: dell wireless mouse is heavy, dell wireless mouse not sensitive, 30 days of mcafee internet security
Model Number: XPS 8500
"This is the 3rd Dell CPU I have purchased and the 1st one not purchased directly from Dell. I orginally configured a XPS 8500 on Dell's website with i7, 8GB memory, 1TB hard drive, Windows 7 Home & MS Office with Outlook. Then I found this XPS 8500 on Costco's website. I paid a little bit more and got a much more robust CPU with Windows 7 Pro & MS Office with Outlook. I can't believe it's so quiet compared to my 6 year old Dell. I really like this XPS & it's the most powerful CPU I have ever owned. From now on I'm buying all my computers from Costco. Their technical support is fabulous & I spoke with them 2x when an automatic McAfee upgrade caused me to loose connection to the internet. Costco techies helped me backup to a previous system restore point and how to uninstall the 30 day McAfee software & install my 1 year subscription to Kaspersky. You also get an additional year of warranty."

Solid Workstations

Model Number: Dell XPS™ 8500
"We purchased four of these systems as an upgrade to existing workstations that were getting quite dated.
They seem to be quick and very responsive on bootup. The lag times we were experiencing in our Civil 3D/Autocad software seems to be gone. The additional memory and 64-bit OS seem very solid.
We use them in a dual monitor configuration. On one or two of the systems we have had the monitor running on the HDMI cable blink off for a few seconds and then come back on. It doesn't seem to be cable related and the monitor doesn't completely lose the video signal but the screen (only the one hooked up to the hdmi port) goes blank.
We have adjusted the power saving settings to see if it makes a difference.
Everything else seems to be working very well."

Wonderful Speed Boost

Pros: fast, quiet, runs cool
Cons: mouse could be better
Model Number: XPS 8500
"This computer replaced a 7 year old Dell. What a speed improvement. The solid state drive makes boot up very fast. I do a fair amount in Photoshop and this computer takes any task and makes it go quickly.
Quiet and runs cool.
My family loves it."

Great promice, big disappointment

Pros: lightning speed wth start-up and applications
Cons: dell tech support canno solve difficult problems
Model Number: XPS 8500
"I selectred this computer based on its properties and features and my needs: I do a lot of work with photo and video, and was impressed with its speed and capacity as well as its ratings and positive reviews. Preformance has not lived up to expectations. Fullfillment and delivery, I thought was slow, but within the promised time limits stated at Costo.com. As I was setting the system up, I notced that it was shutting down frequently with no notice, taking open programs and unsaved data with it. It would start up automatically after these annoying shut-downs. My first mistake was going to Dell support. After almost a week, and several checks and a full system restore, the problem persisted. The support technician and his supervisor promised a full replacement, but after 5 days of hearing nothing, I still dont know if and when the replacement is coming. Needless to say, this computer is going back to Costco. I will consider other options."

Fast Computer

Pros: stable, fast
"I love the solid state hard drive - speeds up the boot time, as well as all hard drive operations. Computer is fast, and has not crashed once since I got it (compared to the ZT Systems albeit slightly less - which crashed all the time, and had to return to Costco)."

Great deal on a desktop computer

Pros: very fast boot and huge hard drive included.
Cons: wireless transmitter not installed
Model Number: I7-3770
"The package price is excellent. The computer arrived just when predicted. Set up was quite easy.
Excellent value for the money.
Factory should have installed the wireless transmitter though.
No parallel printer port available - a minor inconvenience.
No keyboard port available if you choose to attach a wired keyboard.

Great for Home Office

Pros: extremely fast boot up, very quiet operation
Cons: video card would be weak for a serious gamer, power supply too weak to add a top level gpu
Model Number: Dell XPS 8500 #661563
"I bought this computer for my wife's home office. It perfectly suited her goals. She is impatient with slow running computers. The 16GB of memory, and especially the new 32GB solid state cache drive, make for lightning fast boot ups. I bought it when it first came out a few months ago . I shopped the competition pretty hard and can tell you I got a very good good price. Currently it's on sale for 50 bucks less. You'll find it hard to do better."
