Many problems

Pros: good features for the price
Cons: wi-fi doesn't work, usb printer troubles
Model Number: 14z-5423
"I have several other Dell products that I have enjoyed over the years. I recently decided that it was time for a new computer and this one looked exactly like what I wanted.
It has had problems staying connected to some Wi-Fi networks and I have had a lot of trouble with printers. The wireless seems to drop out about 4-5 times an hour when I am home, it is really a pain when I am trying to download anything large.
The worst problem came from the printer issues. I had it hooked up to my home printer via my Wi-Fi router (when it stayed connected), then I needed to print away from home. I took my printer and got nothing but conflicts when ever I hooked up the USB cable. I went and bought a new printer and it did the same thing. A friend who was with tried to do some troubleshooting (he is a senior engineer with HP) and he couldn't get it to work either and said he had never seen anything like it.
I am very disappointed with this computer and I will be returning it."

Most frustrating computer purchase ever

Model Number: P35G
"The wireless does not work. The battery life is very short and in general very misrepresented. I have wasted my $ without a consistent wireless connection."

Wireless Card Problems with Dell 14z laptops!

Pros: great components and fast!, great price!
Cons: bad bad wireless connection problems!
"I bought a Dell 14z (non-ultrabook laptop) three weeks ago for my daughter and liked it so much I bought this Dell 14z ultrabook for myself.
I have had it for 9 days now and it constantly drops the wifi signal! I called Dell and they tried everything, but it is still not fixed. I love everything else about this laptop, but this is not acceptable.
While on the internet on my daughters 14z non-ultrabook and my 14z ultrabook at the same time, side by side, and right above my router, the 14z ultrabook repeatedly drops the signal.
If Dell is not able to fix the problem then it will have to go back, but I am sure Costco has another great deal on an ultrabook to replace it!
If this problem was fixed then I would give it a four star rating despite having to fix a brand new laptop!

Network card problem.

Pros: fast light good batt life.
Cons: can't stay connected to the internet
"Purchased this laptop for my son in middle school. He had a lot of problems staying connected to the internet with this laptop. Downloaded drivers, updates, changed settings, etc. It seems like it has something to do with the power saving mode. Will drop connection alot more when not plugged in. However it will lose connection randomley when plugged in as well. Other then that this laptop rocks! It was a deal breaker for me though. First and last Dell for us. Costco is just the best about returns. Costumer satisfaction always comes first."

AMAZING speakers, boots fast.

Pros: boots quickly, large hard drive, great display, lightweight, optical drive
Cons: only 2 usb ports, no 10-key
"I love this ultrabook! It boots fast, has a CD drive (something that is a must for me as I'm a college student), and it has a beautiful display (though a low resolution). This laptop also has the most amazing speakers of any laptop I have owned EVER. The sound needed a little adjustment, but afterwards, WOW! I was totally blown away. The keyboard is comfortable enough to type on with fake nails (a plus for the ladies!) and there is an awesome button that brings up a control panel so you can quickly turn off power stealing services.
The battery life isn't close to 7 hours. Not for me. I use it for a lot of video and gaming, so I don't get the 7 hours. I believe that if you are using it for word processing, you could get close. Oh, and the display has a feature that automatically brightens and dims for different settings and color schemes. GENIUS!
There are to draw backs for me: only two usb ports and no 10-key (not even an embedded one). I bought this to replace an netbook that was great, but didn't have the power I was looking for. I love that is it bigger but still very light weight, but I am an online student taking German classes and I need the 10-key to make umlauts (special characters of the German alphabet). You can't do this without a 10-key which I find frustrating, but I work around it. The two usb port thing is super annoying if you use a mouse with this. I went out and purchased a bluetooth mouse to remedy this. I have my USB ports back! I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable, fast ultrabook or laptop."
